The construction, real estate and installation sectors face enormous challenges in the field of the energy transition. From 2020, new-build production must be completely climate-neutral and at least 50,000 existing homes must be made more sustainable in the Netherlands. Sustainable homes

By 2050, all 6 million homes in the Netherlands must be fully sustainable. By 2022, 100,000 homes must be made sustainable, after which the pace will increase to 200,000 sustainable homes per year. As part of the energy transition all the homes in the Netherlands must must be taken off the gas network completely. Since the 1st of July 2018, new-build houses may no longer be connected to the gas network. This is a huge challenge for the real estate, construction and installation sectors.

What is the energy transition?

The energy transition is the transition and the process to a sustainable energy supply for the whole of the Netherlands. This transition affects everyone. Fossil fuels are being replaced by renewable energy sources and there’s a lot of attention for energy saving and energy storage. The Dutch government has set goals to be completely climate neutral by 2050.
