Studio Wae was founded in 2017 by Tynke van den Heuvel. She worked for 14 years in a recycling company for metals en electronic equipment. She learned how to create a valuable stream from waste and she combined this with her designs inspired on M.C. Esher. Her vision is to make products that have a great impact on waste and no impact nature. In 2019 she started a social workspace for Syrian refugees with a workstatus that assamble the circular carpets made from production waste of Interface, Tarkett and Desso.
Starting in 2017, the Cityscapes were also launched as a contemporary outdoor product. The tiles meant for garden paths and terraces are inspired by M.C. Escher. It provides for numerous ways to scape your landscape.
